He has been playing in miniature golf tournaments since 2003 and in 2011 he had his best season professionally winning 3 tournaments. Starting in May 2016 he is also the Editor-in-Chief of Minigolfnews.com, an Official Media Partner of the World Minigolf Sport Federation.
Mandy Ranslow – She is a graduate of Boston University and the University of
Connecticut, currently residing in Connecticut. She is an archaeologist by day and has been playing in miniature golf tournaments for several years.
The Putting Penguin was an idea that was developed by Pat and Mandy. Pat and Mandy played a minigolf course in Connecticut and did not care much for some of the course rules. Rather than keep their thoughts to themselves they speculated others might share their views, or even benefit from a review of the course. In 2001 there were few minigolf courses that had an internet presence (and many still do not today). The goal of The Putting Penguin was to provide not only course reviews, but also to serve as a forum for the public to contribute their thoughts. Putt, the Putting Penguin, is a mascot they adopted to pose in course photos, and is now the most recognizable figure on the team. He has been joined by other penguins over the years as well.
The Putting Penguin has grown from humble roots as solely a minigolf course review website to a team of professional competitors with the world’s largest miniature golf review website, and more recently, minigolf course developers.
Over the years we have been featured in the following, talking about our love of miniature golf:
-The Providence Journal (Spring 2004)
-The Boston Globe (August 2010)
-96.9 Boston Talks (The Bower Show) (August 2010)
-The Colin McEnroe Show - WNPR (August 2014)
