Original Review

Overall this course is slightly above average.  It has several positive points, the first being a very reasonable price for a course that even gives you three extra holes.  The layout is very accommodating although there is very little shade (not so good on a hot day like when we played).  While the scorecards aren’t customized (making it difficult to record 21 scores when there is only space for 18) the course does provide you with a clipboard to make writing easier.  The course did have some fun designs (such as a cannon and bull’s eye, and a bridge/tunnel hole that we hadn’t seen before) but most hole designs were generic.  The upkeep was decent but the carpets did need some work in some locations.  Several of the holes also had what appeared to be electrical outlets popping out of them that added a strange (and likely unwanted) obstacle.  While we didn’t try the BBQ we hear that it is good and like the BBQ/minigolf combination which we haven’t seen before.  Since this is one of the few minigolf courses in the area it would definitely be worth a play from time to time but we don’t consider it a must-visit attraction.

2013 Update

There hasn’t been many changes since our last review but as you can tell from our ratings it did go up a couple of points in our eyes.  First the cost has remained the same and five dollars is an extremely good price for a course in good condition and which boasts 21 holes.  We didn’t notice many issues with the carpets this time but we did have two difficulties with obstacles.  On the bridge hole our balls kept getting stuck and while we were resourceful in retrieving them, we’re not sure if your average player would be.  This would be an annoyance if you had to go get another ball since the bridge is as far away from the clubhouse as you can get.  Second, on the mill hole the obstacle stopped turning but luckily it stayed in a position where the ball could go through.  In our last review we failed to mention there terrible rubber starting mats that put the ball up on a little mound which makes a smooth putt impossible.  We suggest not using them.  Finally we did try the BBQ this time around and it was very good and makes for a good way to debrief your game!

This course was opened by a family friend when I was a child in the late 70's. Several restaurants have opened & closed here & some have not used the course - but it has never been removed. It has recently reopened & I am only giving average scores for now because of issues caused by neglect by the previous owners & some factors beyond anyone's control - ie. the late, cold spring. However, the owner is very interested in improving the course & has plans for the future - think this course could have great potential.

Late 2018 Update:

A re-review from the spring. I was hoping to give this course a wonderful atmosphere score because of the plans the owners had. Unfortunately this business was a victim of the May 15th tornado in southwest CT. Some of the obstacles were destroyed & the replacements have added to the difficulty & creativity score. However, there is still a ways to go as far as the condition of the course & getting the clubhouse in order - the owners are making an effort.
