If not for Tee-Time in Naugatuck, this course as the Prospect Driving Range would be our home course.  I’ve played it countless amounts of times simply because it was the closest one to my house.  As you can tell from the ratings above, it’s not a terribly exciting or challenging course but the decent atmosphere score does make it worth playing if you live in the area, plus it’s less expensive than most courses, which makes it a good Friday night activity.

The course doesn’t really offer much in the way of exciting obstacles or holes.  All you have is your basic miniature golf fare: a windmill, a cave, a multi-tier hole (which gives you the option of using one or both tiers and the par is adjusted accordingly) and putting around rocks and posts.  It does have real sand traps, which add to the atmosphere of the course, especially since they were well maintained.  Another positive area is that they removed the flag-sticks that used to be in the holes.  Although they may seem like a good idea, flags in the holes are usually annoying and its good to see that this course decided to get rid of the ones they had.

Other than that, there’s really not much to say about the course.  They’ve redone a lot of the club house (which is also used for the driving range) and the people who worked the course are pleasant.  It’s about as average as you can make a miniature golf course, but it’s still worth the cost of playing.

2013 Update

Unfortunately this course has gone downhill in the 11 years since we last played it.  Everything about this course needs work.  The carpets are worn and there are several thick patches of moss growing on several holes. As the visitor review pointed out the windmill is broken (and continues to be several years on).  There are missing hole numbers and in several areas the bushes have overgrown the course making it hard to find places to stand for common putts.  It still is an easy course but the declining state will make it hard to continue to play this course without issue.  The best aspect of this course is that it continues to be very affordable for individuals and families, which helps to overcome some, but not all, of the issues the course faces.

This was a very simple course to play - although the wind was blowing hard the day I played leading to a couple of out of bounds shots. The course itself, however, needs work - windmill still has no arms & course shows wear. No water in the fountains but I played in September so this was possibly a seasonal issue. Not too much creativity aside from the two-level hole & the cave but it is too bad this course is being neglected - it could be a nice simple little course with some TLC.

The problem with this course is that it has become very broken down.  The windmill has no arms left, and the fountains don’t have any water in them.  However, there may be hope for the future since the owners had new carpet installed.
