For us this was a course of contrasts in terms of highlights and areas we thought could use some improvements. The sum total resulted in a course we would play again in the area, especially considering its location a bit outside the main hustle of Atlantic City.

Our first positive of this course was the location.  Away from downtown there was some room to park, a bit more space on the course and not as crowded, but it was also right on the water so you kept that atmosphere.  It was well maintained and it is still relatively new but everything was in good condition nonetheless.  The theming overall was good, but it was a bit varied. The top section of the course had some more Atlantic City focused holes, whereas the bottom was this sort of mix of nautical and countryish with some wrought iron designs, logs and boats.  In general, the holes has a good diversity in design though many weren’t far off things you’d see on many courses. The craps hole on the upper deck is one of the more unique holes we’ve seen (and Pat loves craps) but it does need some clear instructions to let people know how to play it.

The overall issue of play was something that popped up in a few places.  While the course is handicap accessible, there were several of the holes were the layout out of the handicap access seemed to impede normal play.  More than a few holes had the exit directly behind the hole where you’d normally use bricks or edging for rebounds and in a couple of cases made it way too easy for the ball to go out of bounds coming off a hill. It was noticeable enough for us to comment on it, compared to a lot of other courses which have those access aways generally off to the side of the hole or in locations that a “normal” shot wouldn’t be taken. Not a huge detriment to play, just something to be aware of and adjust for.  It also might not be something that the regular public thinks about and the ball going out-of-bounds more for them could be frustrating.  There also seems to be a couple of unnecessary obstacles.  One example is the log hole, where using the log really isn’t to anyone’s advantage where there is a decent bank shot around it (and also a case where the handicap entrance sits behind the exit of the log and the hole).  However, with a few rounds of practice on this course you can probably consistently shoot in the high 30s given Pat’s score was 42 sight unseen, with a couple of bad holes.

The only other word of caution we had is a little more than half the course is exposed, with very little shade.  You get a respite for a few holes when you are under the boardwalk, but otherwise you are in the open and on a hot summer day we see where that might be a bit brutal.

While maybe not as “must visit” as some of the other courses up and down the Jersey Shore, we’d definitely visit it again if in the area.

While at the Jersey Shore for a tournament last summer circumstances forced me into an area I didn’t plan on visiting. I stumbled into a wonderful little neighborhood where this brand new mini-golf was located. While it is basically an adventure type course, aside from the first 3 holes having a local flair, it is far more difficult than an average adventure course. The staff was very friendly, the location was in a very cool neighborhood & the course was right next to the ocean. Also had amazing water feature that ran through the entire lower section of the course. Overall a great addition to the Jersey Shore courses.
