Glowgolf is a chain of minigolf courses
designed to occupy vacant mall spot and this is the third we’ve played. What made this trip memorable was it was the
first course played by 3-month old John and 2-month old Malcolm, the newest
additions to the extended Putting Penguin family. Much like the other Glowgolfs
this courses offers a great deal of miniature golf for a relatively low
price. Unfortunately, this location only
has 18 holes (versus some that have 36) so playing 54 holes can get a little
repetitive. We ended up playing 50
before the crowds got to us.
We played this course during a
weekend in the prime holiday shopping season, which means it was quite
busy. While there is a good amount of
space around the course (enough to move a stroller around with ease) because it
is a smaller course and contained, unlike an outside course, it made for a much
busier atmosphere with kids running around and yelling. As a result, sometimes
the play would get backed up or you’d have people running over your holes. The enclosed space also meant it got very hot
in the course. The only other negative for this course was that there were
definitely some seams showing in places which had just been taped over, making
for very few putts that rolled true.
This might be the case at the other Glowgolf
courses as well but it seemed (no pun intended) more noticeable here.
There’s many positives for the
course as well. The music was the standard fair of Top 40 playlists and was at
an enjoyable level. The course was very
clean despite the high traffic and there was very little repetition in the
types of holes they selected for the course. As mentioned above there was also
plenty of space for a stroller so we could easily bring a young one along with
us. The course is generally easy as there are several ace opportunities but
there’s a couple of holes that will test your putting skill and knowledge of
miniature golf course play.
As with the other Glowgolf courses it’s definitely a location worth playing
if you need a minigolf fix during a cold weather
month or if you want a good deal but we wouldn’t consider it a destination
course. We did rate it slightly lower because of the 18 holes versus the 36
which makes the 54 hole deal a little less exciting.
