On a very hot summer day, Captain's Cove was open and after
already going to a course which was closed it was a good feeling starting to
play the course, especially because it was mostly in the shade.
The first thing you will notice when you get to each hole is the intertwined
nautical theme. Many holes have anchors or boats or even a flagpole as a part
of the hole itself, not just on the side as a
decoration. Each hole had at least one element of the sea associated with it.
The course layout takes you up a hill and back down and the design follows you
as well. Very good use of the terrain as well as bridges over
the rapid flowing water which is on the course. Captain's Cove uses
bricks along side of each hole. This allows you to get the right bounce around
some of the pesky obstacles.
While there were pine needles and leaves on some holes, we did see employees
out cleaning the water of debris and the mats were in good condition overall.
They make use of the rubber mat tees, but they have plenty of starting space if
you don't like the mats.
Add a free game chance on Hole 18 and some Ice Cream back at the shack and
Captain's Cove is a good mini golf location just minutes from Hampton Beach.
